July walkshop

Stanmer Park, Brighton

Learn the bird sounds of woodland and parkland in summer.

Thursday 15th July 2021

In this half-day outdoor workshop we will explore how to identify common resident and summer visiting birds on the nature-rich edge of Brighton.

The ‘walkshop’ includes:

  • Before the day, access to step-by-step audio lessons on how to identify 5 key woodland species - nuthatch, blackcap, great spotted woodpecker, goldcrest and stock dove - by sound.

  • A gentle 2.5-hour walk around the woodland and downland edge at Stanmer Park.

  • Potential species encountered will include the five ‘targets’ above, plus skylark, green woodpecker, robin, blackbird, song thrush, dunnock, common finches, crows & tits and chiffchaff.

  • Tea, coffee and cake, and a sit-down Q&A session to end the morning.

  • Easy access by bus, rail, bike or car.

  • Small group size (maximum 10 participants).

  • Starts 9am, finishes 12.30

  • At least 10% of ticket revenue will go to a local wildlife conservation project.

This workshop is led by Charlie Peverett.
