Unlocking the secrets of British birdsong since 2021
Many of us feel it's time to refresh our relationship with the rest of nature.
Bird calls are all around us, and can help us connect with wild life wherever we are. Birdsong Academy is on a mission to restore our knowledge of the warbles, chirrups and kerchinks in our world.
What is it?
Birdsong Academy is a clutch of online and in-person services designed to help more people identify and enjoy the sound of birds where they are. It’s focused on British birds, and builds on years of field outings with groups and more recent ‘lockdown listening’ using online resources and video conferencing.
Who’s it for?
Our services are aimed at those with no or a little knowledge who want to improve their skills in bird identification by sound. This could be to enhance your abilities as a parent, teacher, ecological surveyor or land manager, or simply to deepen your appreciation of your non-human neighbours.

We combine expert knowledge and identification resources with the ability for us to gather safely online or in-person to learn together. We introduce a number of creative ways to recognise and interpret sounds - what works for you might be different from the next person.
